It is official, we are live! We are sooo excited for you to start using Spend, it has already changed the way we think about our spending habits. I do not go to Starbucks quite so often anymore, and I don’t miss it at all. We know there will be bugs, so please feel free to contact us at hello (at) spend.com. A sneak peek at Spend

So things have been very quiet the past month, a little too quiet. Well, we were not 100% happy with the way things were coming together with Spend, so we took some time to re-think some things. As much as we wish Spend was live, we believe we made the right decision. We are now loving Spend more and more everyday; it is so gosh darn useful! We are making some final tweaks and polishing a few tarnished nobs, but rest assured Spend will be here sooner rather than later. We are so excited to have you get your hands on Spend, we thought you might like a sneak peek at the design. Below find the homepage for Spend; simple, clean and utilitarian. Enjoy!

Why Spend?

Why would you use Spend? I use Spend to keep my spending under control and make sure I make it to the end of the month with money in my checking account. Spend is the easiest way to keep track of how much you spend, and then quickly scan your habits for a particular day, week, or month. I have tried using Quicken and even some “pretty” online financial software suites, but they are too much for me. I always end up with one account that won’t sync, or the dates being out of whack and the whole thing being useless. I knew I wouldn’t do massive budget breakdowns or tag and categorize my spending, I just wanted to keep track of it. If you have tried these applications and felt overwhelmed or lost interest or motivation, Spend might actually work for you. Spend is designed to be a streamlined workhorse, focused on doing a simple task simply. After using Spend for the past week, I have already seen that I spend too much on lunch, and that I should cut back on my afternoon Starbucks trips. We are putting the final tweaks on the interface and stress testing the code to make sure it doesn’t crumble when we flick the switch to “On”. We will be inviting readers of the blog to a private beta in the next few days, so feel free to post a comment below to get your name on “the list”. Spend is coming, stay tuned.

What is Spend?

Let’s begin with what Spend is not. Spend is not a swiss army knife financial tool. We don’t do multiple accounts, charts, budgets, reconciliation, accrual accounting, projections, taxes, invoicing, or payroll. Spend is simple. Spend allows you to track what you spend. That’s it. There are dozens of online and offline swiss army knife style financial software suites available, but they are bloated and expect you to work like an accountant. Spend works for everyone, not just accountants. Spend is coming very soon, so stay tuned.
